French Prairie Gardens in St. Paul, Oregon is offering one-hour spring educational school tours Wednesday and Friday in May. We have several different school tour options developed for early childhood education thru 2nd grade students. Students learn about Oregon Agriculture through hands-on inquiry based lessons and a guided tour of what's growing and living on the farm.

Tour Options:

apple Mommy & Me Planting Tour, ages 2 to 5

  • A narrated tour of our 500-acre farm of fruit, vegetables and grass seed farm on a tractor-drawn hay wagon to see what growing in the garden.
  • A hands on sensory activity where the students learn make observations using their five senses.
  • A hands-on lesson about how to correctly plant a flower
  • Each student gets to take their newly planted plant home with them.
  • A trip to see and learn about the farm animals in our animal barn.
  • All of our tour spots will be guided by one of our friendly and helpful French Prairie Garden staff, ensuring that you make it from one stage to another as smoothly as possible.

appleKindergarten to 2nd Grade

  • A narrated tour of our 500-acre farm of fruit, vegetables and grass seed on a tractor-drawn hay wagon to see what growing in the garden.
  • An educational lesson on the lifecycle of plants including what is needed for plant growth, the different types of plants and the importance of bees
  • A hands-on lesson about how to correctly plant a pumpkin seed.
  • Each student gets to take their newly planted seed home with them, plant the seedling and bring back the pumpkin it produces during our kids pumpkin contest in the fall.
  • A trip to see and learn about the farm animals in our animal barn.
  • All of our tour spots will be guided by one of our friendly and helpful French Prairie Garden staff, ensuring that you make it from one stage to another as smoothly as possible.

Pricing and Registration

Tour prices will be $5.00 per person and applies to any student/child, sibling, parent, person, or mommy that goes on the tour.

One classroom teacher will be free per class for the Kindergarten to 2nd Grade Tour Groups. If the group is part of a daycare the teachers of that daycare are free.
